2009 Workamper NewsSam and I arrived at Mesa RV Resort in early April and, thus far, have enjoyed every minute of our stay here. The trees are getting ready to show off their new leaves and the grass is green and growing beautifully. Last night three deer were in the park mowing the grass for us. How pleasant they were to watch! I'm curious to know if they'll stick around when all our guests arrive. The Ivys (Allan, Francie and Andy) are awesome to work with. They appreciate everything we do and they certainly have made us all feel welcome and happy to be a part of their 2009 team. Sam and I have workamped many places, and I have to say this is our favorite spot. There's so much to do in and around Gunnison. Tomorrow we're going on a picnic to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. I can hardly wait to see it again and take some photos to add to my collection. I truly wish Allan were going with us to take some great photos, but he'll be here to work on the second cabin that the guys are building. When he has an opportunity, I'm sure he'll take hundreds of photos at the Black Canyon. The "Shrew Haven" cabin is decked out in all its glory and is anxious to house its first guests of the season. We had our first guests in the tipi last night, and we're anxious to hear about their experience. I'm sure they'll have stories to tell, and I can assure you they will never forget Mesa RV Resort as a result of spending the night in the really authentic tipi. This evening we're going to experience something new for Mesa RV Resort. We're going to have a biscuit bake around an open fire. I'm not going to spoil your anticipation by telling how it is done, but I'm sure Allan will post pictures of this new tradition that we hope will be here for years to come. Each of us will bring something to put inside the biscuit tube after baking them on the fire on a stick. If you're wanting a fabulous experience as a workamper, this is THE place to be!! So far, we have 4 workamper couples here, and we're anxiously awaiting the arrival of two more soon. Mesa RV Resort is a great destination resort for workampers and guests alike. The atmosphere here is incredibly great with beautiful mountain views, the Blue Mesa Reservoir nearby, Hartman Rocks within walking distance, and Crested Butte, Lake City, Telluride, Creede, Pitkin, Delta with all its delicious fresh veggies and fruits, and others too numerous to mention -- all day trips from here. You'll never be bored here, so come on down and join us here for a day, a week, a month or a season as a guest. You won't forget it, I promise. Linda & Sam |
