Mesa Campground

Work began on Mesa Campground shortly after Blue Mesa Dam was completed in 1966. It started out as a campground with 14 sites and quickly became popular with fisherman and hunters that came from far and wide to take full advantage of what Gunnison County had to offer.

Ken and Mary Bergman purchased the park in the early 1980's and expanded it to the size it is today. Their friendly hands on approach soon made Mesa Campground the most popular park in Gunnison, with visitors coming back year after year.

Ron Heinbaurgh purchased the park in 2003 and renamed it to Mesa RV Resort. He paved the road into the park and upgraded the facilities including 10 luxury sites.

In June 2008 Francie and I became proud owners of Mesa RV Resort. Unfortunately we were unable to get to the park until October when we went to work repairing and upgrading most of the facilities. When we purchased the Resort we did not realize that we were buying into a large family of like minded people who return to Gunnison year after year. We have been joined by our Son Andy and together we intend to run the Resort in the spirit that Ken and Mary had. We are living on site and plan to build a Post and Beam Barn that will include the reception, store, coffee shop and photographic gallery as-well as our home.

We plan to nurture a friendly family run campground, and to extend the season to accommodate hunters and photographers in the fall and ice fisherman in the winter.
