Penny's news

Good morning! My name is Penny Klein, mother of Deuce the camp cat. My husband Mick and I want to tell you about a fabulous RV Resort in Gunnison, Colorado called Mesa RV Resort. The elevation here is 7707 ft. We have enjoyed clean, cool air, and a view that cannot be described. We are 3 miles from town and about 33 miles from Crested Butte. Mick, Deuce and I arrived on the 2nd of April, to a frozen Blue Mesa lake and snow on the ground. Andy Ivy, the manager met us and soon put us to work getting the park ready for the 2009 season. This was our first experience at Workamping, and had no expectations on what kind of work or summer we were in for. Mick and Andy teamed up to do special projects, i.e. putting up Tipis, building a cabin, building fire pits and a play ground for the kids. I worked in the office, entering inventory, taking reservations, de-winterizing the bathrooms and laundry faciliies.

When Allan and Francie arrived from England, we were encouraged to explore the area so we would be knowledgeable about all this area has to offer. With our schedule we had plenty of time to white water raft, fly fish, 4-wheel in the mountains, fish Taylor Reservoir, Spring Creek and Blue Mesa Resevoir. There were craft fairs, wild flower festivals, a classic car show, kayaking, rock climbing and The Black Canyon Morrow Point river boat ride. Gunnison has so much to offer and has wonderful restaurants too.

Mes RV Resort has been here 25+ years, the the Ivys have made a number of improvements that even our old time guests were proud of. We can accommodate most everyone with Tent sites, 30 amp, 50 amp with or without patio, Luxury sites and Hot Tub sites. We have Cabins and even a Tipi for your camping experience. Allan and Francie's attitude is, "it only gets better from here." We made a lot of new friends this year, especialy the Ivys and we are so glad they've invited us back next year.
